    Hi there,

I would just like to say that i am someone who has had a distant following of politics over the last few years, with the state of the country and the turnaround and dismay of public opinion, i have decided to find out more information on something that i should have found out years ago….who to vote for. I knpw it’s important, we had suffragete class after class in school but the information is lacking these days and you should be ashamed of yourself.

HOW HARD IS IT TO HAVE A GOOD WEBSITE????? pay a student to do it for free if you need to !! (they would by the way!!!)

but this website is really uninformative – I am being nice, i am keeping it clean, i am staying on topic and This is not spam.

I simply represent the age of youngsters (26) that cannot be bothered with websites like this (but want to vote, and vote well).

I wonder if you have anything to say?

    Kindest regards Diane

    Hi,
I agree with the last comment regarding the lay out and presentation of the website.
I had to double check i had the right website as I was so surprised at how amateur and boring it looked.
I think the under 30 vote is very important and the website would benefit from targeting the younger voters and making the information much easier to understand

When will Labour get tough on criminals.Victims and witnesses live in fear and criminals appear to have more rights and frankly are pandered to.The justice system is still in the dark ages.

Why has our Local A&E closed when money is thrown at people who choose to abuse substanses, while my young children and other critically ill local residents now have to travel quite a distance to another council area for immediate care.

Why are new class intakes for primary 1 pupils up at 32.

Dissapointed in the town after living here as an outsider for 5 years. Will look to move on within the next 24 months.

    Some issues
    Shops closed
    Businesses moving elsewhere
Charity shops and pubs abound (plus a nightclub to be opened)
Drunks and vagabonds meandering around the quayside (friends from the area say they keep clear of the town centre).
Undercurrents of sectarianism (of both sorts!)
Reports that the Council is incompetent, poorly run, and prone to nepotism.

All above points make the population depressed (look at the suicide rate).

Support for Scottish SPCA request for tighter laws on unlicensed public use of fireworks

As your constituent I am writing to express my support for the Scottish SPCA’s campaign urging for a review of the legislation governing the unlicensed use of fireworks in public.

The Scottish SPCA is Scotland’s animal welfare charity and, like them, I agree that the laws controlling the public use of fireworks in Scotland need to be tightened.

Current legislation is so relaxed that fireworks can be discharged on any given day and this causes needless distress not only to domestic pets but farm animals and wildlife. Many animals suffer serious harm and even death as a result of being exposed to the noise of fireworks.

The Scottish SPCA is not calling for a ban on fireworks, but for a more responsible approach to fireworks legislation to be adopted.

I therefore encourage the government to introduce tighter laws with a view to limiting the days when fireworks can be used without a licence by members of the public to the week up to and including 5 November and not at all afterwards, with the current rules pertaining to New Year’s Eve, Chinese New Year and Diwali remaining unchanged.

This will allow animal owners to make adequate provisions for the welfare of their pets and livestock during defined festival periods.

I urge that you take this matter forward and use your powers responsibly to represent your constituents’ views to the Scottish Government. Thank you in advance for your support.

    Yours sincerely,
    Shona McNab

As a pet owner I fully agree with your sentiments and I will raise this with my colleagues in the Labour Group.
